300hour Yoga Teacher Training

Let’s get deep! Most 200-hour yoga teacher trainings are an introduction to a variety of yoga topics. This 300-hour training is designed to offer a path of deeper study into the individual components of yoga practice, philosophical history, and tools for teaching yoga. The curriculum of this training will include in depth study of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, yogic models of understanding the human condition, teaching methodologies, and creating integrated yoga practices. Finding Your Voice: Exploration of Dharma

Saturday, March 14 from 12noon to 5:00pm & Sunday, March 15 from 11:00am to 4:00pm

Yoga philosophy is rich with discussions about identifying and embracing your personal dharma – your true life’s work. This 10-hour workshop will include information from the Bhagavad Gita, describing the concept of dharma, and the 4 Basic Aims of Life (Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksa). There will also be activities for you to design a personal vision, identifying your strengths, defining personal boundaries, and methods for cultivating your best self. Each day of the training will include some lecture and a guided practice (including asana, pranayama, and meditation). You will leave this training with tools to help you identify your personal path. For yoga teachers, there are 10 CEUs for Yoga Alliance.

Understanding the Body: Anatomy & Movement

Saturday, April 18 from 12noon to 5:00pm & Sunday, April 19 from 11:00am to 4:00pm

This workshop is designed for yoga teachers and practitioners interested in strengthening their knowledge of physical and energetic anatomy from the yoga perspective. This workshop will include basic information on human structure, physical anatomy, and biomechanics for yoga. Additionally, the yogic models of the subtle body (maya model and the chakra model) will be discussed. Skill practice will include building knowledge of the physical and subtle body as well as how these are affected through yoga movement through observation and movement. This workshop will include a combination of lecture and active practice. Yoga Alliance CEUs will be available (10 hours for participation in both days of training).

Tools of Teaching: Sequencing, Cueing & Observation

Saturday, May 16 from 12noon to 5:00pm & Sunday, May 16 from 11:00am to 4:00pm

There are infinite options for how one might sequence a yoga practice. The conscious order of components within a yoga practice is essential to designing a safe and effective program. This workshop is designed for yoga teachers and practitioners interested in creating yoga practices designed to best meet a set intention while adapting to the specific needs of the practitioner. Practices will include understanding how to build stability, pose preparation/compensation, and designing safe practices. This workshop will also include discussion, modeling, and practice of observational methods such as; observing movement patterns, breathing feedback, and non-verbal cues. Yoga Alliance CEUs will be available (10 hours for participation in both days of training).

Adaptation: Teaching to special populations

Saturday, June 13 from 12noon to 5:00pm & Sunday, June 14 from 11:00am to 4:00pm

Adaptation is a method of adjusting traditional yoga postures to meet the specific needs of students. Adaptations are useful because they increase awareness of movement, develop new movement patterns, and help improve body functioning. During this 10-hour training, be prepared to learn the thinking process used to adapt poses within group classes or for individuals including: identifying common conditions/needs for set population, creating clear intention for practice, and cueing methods. This workshop will include some lecture, group work, and practice. Bring your ideas of favorite poses to be adapted or specific conditions that would require special adaptations. Yoga Alliance CEUs will be available (10 hours for participation in both days of training).

Making Space: Creating a personal practice

Saturday, July 11 from 12noon to 5:00pm & Sunday, July 12 from 11:00am to 4:00pm

The practice of yoga is designed to help us reduce our own suffering and increase our capacity for joy. It takes intention to step out of the urgency of life and make space to observe our habits. Whether teaching group yoga or creating space for personal practice, effort to create an intentional space is needed.   In this workshop we will discuss various tools of yoga (karma, sankia yoga), what yoga tools are most valuable for you at this time in your life, and how to create space for a personal practice to help you be more functional in life. We will also talk about the role of the yoga teacher, how to create themed yoga classes, marketing ideas, and ethics of teaching. This class will include lecture and guided practices. Yoga Alliance CEUs will be available (10 hours for participation in both days of training).

Energy Management: Pranayama/Physiology

Saturday, August 15 from 12noon to 5:00pm & Sunday, August 16 from 11:00am to 4:00pm

Pranayama is the yoga practice of breath control. This 10-hour workshop will include description and practice of pranayama techniques, information on how pranayama affects physiology, and potential energetic effects (panchamaya model, chakras, nadis, gunas) of pranayama practices. This class will include lecture, group work, and guided practice. Yoga Alliance CEUs are available for participation in this training. This workshop is open to anyone who is interested in developing their breath capacity or teaching breath techniques.

Finding Your Mind: Meditation/Psychology

Saturday, September 12 from 12noon to 5:00pm & Sunday, September 13 from 11:00am to 4:00pm

Yoga meditation is the practice of training your mind, clearing the filters that distort perception, and strengthening your attention. This 10-hour workshop will include an introduction the psychology of yoga, review of yoga philosophy (dyana and samadhi), mindfulness, and yoga nidra. This workshop will include lecture, group discussion, and guided practices. You will leave this workshop with data on how meditation affects brain function and an experience of guided meditation. Yoga Alliance CEUs are available for participation in this training. This workshop is open to anyone who is interested in developing their mental focus or learning techniques for teaching meditation.

Yoga for Emotional Health: Tools to manage depression and anxiety

Saturday, October 10 from 12noon to 5:00pm & Sunday, October 11 from 11:00am to 4:00pm

Yoga has many tools to cultivate emotional health. This 10-hour workshop will include discussion of yoga’s teachings on states of mind (vyasa), models of energy (gunas, brahmana, langhana), and tools to manage symptoms of anxiety and depression. This workshop will include lecture, group discussion, and guided practices. Yoga Alliance CEUs are available for participation in this training. This workshop is designed for anyone who is interested in learning tools to build emotional health.

Yoga and Positive Psychology

Saturday, November 14 from 12noon to 5:00pm & Sunday, November 15 from 11:00am to 4:00pm

Yoga philosophy shares many elements with Positive Psychology. In this 10-hour workshop we will discuss the research from positive psychology including; cognitive reframing (pratipaksha bhavana), cultivating gratitude, and developing flow. This workshop will include lecture, group discussion, and guided practices. Yoga Alliance CEUs are available for participation in this training.

Power of Sound: Chanting in Yoga

Saturday, December 12 from 12noon to 5:00pm & Sunday, December 13 from 11:00am to 4:00pm

Chanting has been a part of the yoga tradition for thousands of years. In this 10-hour training we will discuss the science of sound, how sounds affect our brains, and traditional yoga chants. This workshop will include lecture, group discussion, and guided practices. Yoga Alliance CEUs are available for participation in this training.
