This workshop is designed for yoga teachers and practitioners interested in creating yoga practices designed to best meet a set intention while adapting to the specific needs of the practitioner. Practices will include understanding how to build stability, pose preparation/compensation, and designing safe practices. This workshop will also include discussion, modeling, and practice of observational methods such as; observing movement patterns, breathing feedback, and non-verbal cues. Yoga Alliance CEUs will be available (10 hours for participation in both days of training).

Adaptation is a method of adjusting traditional yoga postures to meet the specific needs of students. Adaptations are useful because they increase awareness of movement, develop new movement patterns, and help improve body functioning. During this 10-hour training, be prepared to learn the thinking process used to adapt poses within group classes or for individuals including: identifying common conditions/needs for set population, creating clear intention for practice, and cueing methods. This workshop will include some lecture, group work, and practice. Bring your ideas of favorite poses to be adapted or specific conditions that would require special adaptations. Yoga Alliance CEUs (10 hours) are available for this training.
